C'est plus une opinion qu'un savoir ou de l'expérience, of course. J'ai aussi entendu ces dernières années des "pros" (ou futurs...) me dire qu'ils s'éloignaient de Debian, mais je ne sais plus pourquoi.</p>

Ça éclaire peut être autant que les qualités de la Kubuntu le fait que j'ai rencontré si peu de bugs dus aux distros. :-) :</p>

J'ai choisi depuis longtemps de toujours installer des distros n-1, toujours des LTS, et de changer seulement si je suis sûr que ça m'apportera quelque chose. En général je profite d'une mise à jour du matos. Je n'ai jamais eu besoin des dernières versions de rien, je me tiens au courant des nouveautés, mais je ne suis pas une fashion-victim.</p>

En échange de qq logiciels à réinstaller je gagne des heures voire des jours de bidouillage si j'en crois l'affolement dans le landerneau des listes à chaque nouvelle version.</p>

Le reste du temps de bidouillage est dû au matériel ou à mes propres erreurs.</p>

C'est actuellement les deux tiers de mon temps devant l'écran. Le reste c'est moitié-moitié de la mise en ligne et de la lecture d'information. Les 4 logiciels de traitement d'image que j'utilise quotidiennement doivent fonctionner (Gimp, AftershotPro, Lightzone, Rapid Photo Downloader). Si j'installais un jour une distro où l'un d'eux ne fonctionnerait pas au bout d'une heure ou deux d'efforts, je n'irai pas plus loin : je laisserai tomber cette distro ou je reviendrai une version en arrière. L'avantage de la pléthore... ;-)</p>

J'utilise aussi un peu MyPaint, mais ça ça fonctionne toujours alors que parmi les logiciels de traitement d'image y'a du café plus ou moins bien moulu dans les lignes de code... :-) Quand c'est possible j'installe des versions avec leur Java packagé avec.</p>

Le plus dur a été de brancher le routeur... ;-) Bon, dans le temps j'avais l'obligation de me servir de deux machines en même temps, samba, merci Marc, switcheur pour l'écran et le clavier et toussa, mais je n'ai plus ce besoin. L'iBook G4 ne sert plus qu'à ma compagne pour aller sur le Net. Il y aura sûrement un jour un truc genre NAS, à moins que je ne lui offre une tablette et que je recycle l'ibook en aspirateur de sauvegarde.</p>

Pour une partie des activités "pro" je suis abonné à un service en ligne très simple et surtout très bien foutu. (InkFrog). Ça coûte un peu (usd 20/mois), mais quel gain de temps ! C'est rentable même si je ne m'en sers que dix ou vingt jours par an.</p>

Dans le temps j'avais aussi une Knoppix configurée pour se servir de mon home, ou de ma sauvegarde du home, au cas où... (N.B : la combine est simple, il suffit d'un lien symbolique ad-hoc dans un dossier persistant sur le dd). </p>

<p style=" margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px; -qt-block-indent:0; text-indent:0px; -qt-user-state:0;">Je l'ai oubliée depuis des années, vu qu'à part pour voir si ma bidouille fonctionnait, je ne n'ai eu à m'en servir qu'une seule fois en attendant de réinstaller une distro suite à un DD mourru. Quoiqu'il arrivait je pouvais donc continuer à travailler, avec une machine de dépannage même sans système actif, si seulement je pouvais y installer mon dd de sauvegarde ou une copie de celui-ci.</p>

Le seul qui m...e un peu c'est Lightzone/Java. Quand il ne veut vraiment plus, je me deconnecte/reconnecte et ça refonctionne. Ça prend deux ou trois minutes. Je n'ai même pas honte. :-)</p>
